While Certain Models Achieve Sales Success, GM’s Canadian Sales Fell 12.9 Percent in October
Even with vehicles like the Cadillac Escalade and the Buick Regal gaining sales in October, GM's overall sales in Canada still faltered
Earlier this year, General Motors began reporting its U.S. sales on a quarterly basis, rather than a traditional monthly schedule. As such, we won’t hear about GM’s sales again until January.
However, the data for GM’s sales in Canada is more readily available. Unfortunately for GM, those numbers show that sales fell 12.9 percent in October.

During the month of October, GM delivered a total of 23,374 vehicles in Canada. In October of last year, GM Canada sold 26,847 vehicles.
Each of GM’s brand lost sales during the month of October. Cadillac suffered the largest sales decline, with Canadian sales falling 24.8 percent.
There was a silver lining for Cadillac in the form of the Escalade. Escalade sales increased 10.15 percent last month, with Escalade ESV sales increasing 25.93 percent.
GM’s other luxury brand, Buick, experienced a much less drastic sales decline at 6.8 percent. GM delivered 2,118 Buick vehicles to Canadian drivers in October.
The Buick Regal made a sales resurgence in October. While year-to-date sales for the model are down 13.27 percent, sales for the Regal were up by 29.76 percent last month.

GMC sales were down by 9.5 percent. Still, GM managed to deliver 8,095 GMC models during the month of October.
Terrain sales were up by 45.54 percent in October. So far this year, GM has sold 11,742 Terrain vehicles in Canada.

Oddly enough, sedans saw the most sales success last month. Cruze sales were up by 26.86 percent, while Impala sales grew by 124.14 percent.
At the end of October, GM has successfully sold 255,169 vehicles so far this year. Since that is only 1.64 percent less than it had sold by this point in 2017, GM still has time to surpass its 2017 sales before the year draws to a close.
