Lincoln Aviator Wins Detroit News 2019 Readers’ Choice Award
It’s only been out in the public eye for a short time, but auto enthusiasts are already quite clear about their fondness for the 2020 Lincoln Aviator. The three-row SUV, which made its official premiere at the Los Angeles Auto Show in November, took home the top honor in The Detroit News’ Readers’ Choice Awards at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit.
The Detroit News selected 100 judges from the general public to determine their favorite vehicle at the show. The Aviator’s win now makes two consecutive years that a Lincoln has taken the top prize — the new Lincoln Navigator was named Best of Show in 2018 as well as Best Road-Trip Ride. The Navigator repeated its title as Best Road-Trip Ride yet again 2019.

The 2020 Lincoln Aviator is expected to arrive in the summer and will start at $51,100 (not including destination and delivery, tax, title, and other fees). Perhaps most notable with the Aviator is the addition of the Grand Touring, a plug-in hybrid variant that delivers a combined system output of 450 horsepower and 600 lb-ft of torque.

At the high end of the Aviator range is the Black Label trim, which includes an all-new interior theme — Flight — that corresponds with the vehicle’s name and is made to recreate the look of instrument panels in early airplanes.
“The connotations of flight are intrinsic in the lines of the vehicle,” says David Woodhouse, design director, The Lincoln Motor Company. “You have the stature and presence of the grille at the front, then the body and tail taper off — creating a distinct aerofoil analogy.”
