Henry Ford Entrepreneurship Academy Returns to Saudi Arabia in 2019
The Henry Ford Entrepreneurship Academy will make its third trip to Saudi Arabia this year, returning to the Princess Nourah bint Abdulrahman University in Riyadh and Effat University in Jeddah. The three-day workshop at the former will run from March 26-28, with the latter running April 1-3.

“On the back of its most successful year in the region to date, training close to 300 entrepreneurs across six cities in three different countries, the Henry Ford Entrepreneurship Academy is continuing to have a positive influence among some of the Kingdom’s brightest business minds,” said Simonetta Verdi, Director, Government and Community Relations, Ford Middle East and Africa. “The workshops provide a high quality and interactive environment for aspiring businesspeople to experiment with their ideas in direct exchange with mentors and coaches, who offer invaluable experience.”
Last year’s inaugural HFEA workshops in Riyadh leveraged the input and expertise of Virginia Commonwealth University and the Dublin City University Business School. Ford’s The Entrepreneurship Journey workshops have now been held at Effat University since 2017, providing women with the tools and knowhow necessary to push forward their entrepreneurial vision.
The workshops are in line with Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 plan, which aims to increase the presence of women in the workforce and (incrementally, of course) provide them with some semblance of equal standing in society. One of the more recent announcements as part of Vision 2030 is the ability of women to open their own businesses without the consent of a male guardian. Very cool! Next thing you know, women in KSA might not be jailed and tortured for human rights activism and journalists critical of the government may not be murdered under mysterious (but not at all mysterious) circumstances. Baby steps.
