2016 Subaru Forester Priced at $22,395
Earlier this month, Subaru announced pricing for both the Legacy sedan (starts at $21,745) and the Outback SUV (starts at $24,995). The automaker has followed up with 2016 Subaru Forester pricing, nestled warmly in between the two.
The 2016 Forester will start with an MSRP of $22,395, plus $850 for destination and delivery. While the Forester was just recently redesigned for its fourth generation in 2014, the 2016 model brings a bunch of new innovations to the market. For example, the 2016 Forester comes with SUBARU STARLINK Safety and Security on Premium, Limited, and Touring trims in one of two packages. The Safety Plus package includes Automatic Collision Notification, Diagnostic Alerts, Enhanced Roadside Assistance, Maintenance Notifications, Monthly Vehicle Health Report, and SOS Emergency Assistance; the Safety Plus and Security Plus tacks on Remote Horn and Lights, Remote Lock/Unlock, Remote Vehicle Locator, Stolen Vehicle Recover Service, and Vehicle Security Alarm Notification.
STARLINK also enhances entertainment with a suite of hands-free options: Pandora, iHeartRadio Aha, and Stitcher, for starters. Drivers can also have traffic alerts read aloud and texts displayed on a screen.
Models equipped with the award-winning EyeSight system will feature last year’s Adaptive Cruise Control, Automatic Pre-Collision Braking, and Lane Departure and Sway Warning. This year, drivers will also get Steering-Responsive Fog Lights.
As expected, Subaru Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive is standard across all trims. The 2.5i trims are powered by a 2.5-liter four-cylinder BOXER engine for 170 horsepower. These engines can be paired with a Lineartronic continuously variable transmission to yield a staggering 32 mpg on the highway, though the six-speed manual is standard on 2.5i and 2.5i Premium (optional CVT).
The 2016 Subaru Forester 2.5i with the six-speed manual tranny carries that $22,395 MSRP, but moving up (by gearbox, by trim, and by engine displacement), the price can skip well into the mid-thirties at $34,645, plus destination and delivery. A number of options and packages can be added. The cheapest (All-Weather package) is just an extra $500, but if you want the Navigation System + Audio with Harman Kardon amplifier and speakers + Eyesight, you’ll be forking over another $2,145.
