Buick Sets New Global Sales Mark for Third Consecutive Year
It’s not too early for Buick to call 2015 its third straight year of record global sales, so there isn’t any risk of some “Dewey Defeats Truman” moment taking place when the year-end totals are released in January. Buick has already set a new global record with just under two weeks to go in the year, and it now has its sights set on passing the 1.2 million vehicle mark by year’s end.
Buick sales have crossed the record 1,170,115 vehicles sold in all of 2014 thanks entirely to another amazing year for the Encore in the United States and record sales in China.
November marked the second consecutive month of 100,000 vehicles being delivered in China, and the brand is now positioned to sell more than 1 million vehicles in China for the first time thanks to the continued success of the Excelle GT.
In America, a down year for sedans was combatted by another 11 months of growth for the Encore, which entered December having made year-over-year gains for 23 straight months. Encore sales alone are expected to surpass 140,000 vehicles by year’s end.
2016 stands to be yet another record year for the brand with more new product launches. The 2016 Cascada and Envision should be boons for the US market when they arrive in the early part of the year, and the global launch of the sharp new 2017 LaCrosse should help Buick rebuild strong sedan sales.
