Chevrolet-Sponsored Survey Reveals Stressors on Family Road Trips

With Thanksgiving just one week away, your thoughts are probably turned towards holiday gatherings with family and friends. While visiting with loved ones can be enjoyable, there’s no doubt that the family road trips to get to those locations can be stressful.

Chevrolet just published the results of a survey that The Harris Poll performed on its behalf. The study involved 1,063 American parents with children younger than 18 years old. Participants were evaluated on various aspects of the family road trip.

The Results

Two out of three parents said that traffic was the top stressor on family road trips. However, technology (or the lack thereof) to engage their children on the trip was a significant stressor. A total 31% of parents claimed how hard it was to keep their kids entertained. In fact, the survey uncovered that on average, families bring 6.6 mobile devices with them in the vehicle to help make family journeys more pleasant.

Tech for the Road

Exactly which connectivity perks do modern families desire the most for road trips? The survey found that 56% of parents believed that built-in Wi-Fi was a key factor in contributing to a happy driving experience for both them and their children. More than half of parents who did have Wi-Fi in the vehicles stated that, because of this convenient feature, they are more likely to take more frequent or longer road trips.
