Chevrolet to Release New Captiva in Thailand Later This Year
Customized Upkeep: Maintenance schedules for your Chevy
We’re only a few months into 2019 and Chevy is already off to a solid sales year, with some exciting options and new vehicles to satisfy current fans and attract new ones. Whether you’re counting down to 2020 models like the Silverado HD or reveling in present offerings like the Traverse or Impala, it’s easy to lose sight of what the brand is doing outside of the States.
For instance, Chevrolet recently debuted the new Captiva crossover at the Bangkok International Motor Show. This model is set for a market release in Thailand during the second half of this year.
What we know about the Captiva
Interestingly enough, the new Captiva isn’t a GM vehicle. Instead, it’s a rebadged Chinese Baojun 530. The model accommodates five or seven passengers and will incorporate modern features like LED headlights and a panoramic sunroof.
The interior design emphasizes streamlined functionality similar to the recent Captiva GM model. The dashboard boasts a large infotainment display so consumers can easily access favorite apps and playlists during the drive.
A 1.5-liter four-cylinder engine under the hood generates 147 horsepower and 169 lb-feet of torque. Consumers will have their choice of pairing it with either a six-speed manual or a CVT automatic transmission, depending on their preference.
A sensible model at a sensible price
Per GM Authority, the new Captiva will cost less than $31,586 according to current exchange rates. It’s a great choice for a first SUV, as Piyanuch Chaturaphat, Sales & Marketing General Director of Chevrolet Sales Thailand, expressed. She commented on the model’s “expressive style, life-sized space, and smart technology” offered at an affordable price.
