Monica Brewer is overcome with emotion as she receives a free car from Chevrolet

Chevrolet is planning to celebrate Leap Day tomorrow with a promotional campaign entitled #DayItForward, which will encourage people everywhere to use the extra 24 hours allotted to them to do something nice for someone. Chevy is going to lead by example when it comes to this whole random acts of kindness thing, and when announcing #DayItForward,  promised that we would see smiles in unexpected places as we approached the big day.

Monica Brewer, AKA “Miss Momo,” a teacher’s aide in Fresno, California, is one of the people that Chevy felt was worthy of recognition. There’s actually more crying than smiling in Monica’s reaction to Chevy’s surprise gift, but we’re pretty confident those are tears of joy.

Brewer’s car trouble had been impacting her ability to do her job, and she had actually started a GoFundMe page to raise money for a new vehicle. GM did her one better, gifting her a 2016 Chevy Malibu, free of charge.

“Miss Momo, she exemplifies everything that #DayItForward is all about,” says Chevy rep Shad Balch in the video above. “I mean, she really has given her life to other people, so it made perfect sense for us to give her a Malibu, so that she could keep helping everybody else.”

Wait, giving your whole life to other people is what #DayItForward is all about? I thought it was about only being nice once every four years. Maybe I’m missing the point of this whole thing…
