Danica Patrick Hand-Delivers the First 2016 Chevy Camaro [VIDEO]
Alican “Turk” Boyacioglu had been eagerly following the build of his 2016 Chevy Camaro SS, and was thrilled when he was given the opportunity to become the very first customer to buy the new sixth-gen Camaro. On Saturday, when Turk went to pick up his new set of wheels at the Texas Motor Speedway stop of Chevrolet’s Find New Roads Trip tour, he was probably excited to be the first person to drive the very first 2016 Camaro ever sold.
Unfortunately, someone had already beaten him to the punch, and was waiting in the driver’s seat of his new car when he got there. Fortunately, that someone happened to be NASCAR driver Danica Patrick.
Take a look:
Turk and his wife Michelle are from Wichita, Kansas, but ordered the car through a dealer in Dallas, Texas. Both were clearly delighted to have the keys to their new Camaro handed over by Danica Patrick, who also autographed the vehicle with the inscription, “Drive it like you mean it!”
“This whole experience was surreal,” said Boyacioglu. “Coming to the race and getting the VIP treatment was amazing, and I still can’t believe I get to drive the first 2016 Camaro away.”
The rest of the car-buying public will have to wait until mid-November for the first Camaro production models to arrive at dealerships. Initially, only coupes—SS or LT models with a 3.6-liter V6 engine—will be available, with 2.0-liter Turbo models and Camaro convertibles scheduled to begin shipping in early 2016.
