For the fourth consecutive year, Ford Motor Company earns an A grade for its water management efforts from CDP, which collects more environmental data than any other firm on the planet. Ford has made great strides to reduce its use of potable water in the manufacturing process, having cut operational water use by 62.5 percent since 2000 and saving approximately 10.4 billion gallons of water.
“Access to clean water is a fundamental human right,” said Kim Pittel, vice president, sustainability, environment and safety engineering, Ford Motor Company. “We know we play an integral role in establishing best practices to help protect the environment — both for Ford and our supply chain. Through our integrated approach to sustainability, our goal is to improve the lives of not only our customers, but communities around the world.”

Ford is one of more than 30 companies to earn an A for water security on the 2018 CDP A List, furthering its standing as a leader of environmental action not just in the auto industry but in the larger world of industry as a whole.
Ford also earned an A- for climate change action for the third straight year. Ford continues to act in accordance with the Paris Climate Accord and is increasingly proliferating its electrified vehicle selection as part of an $11 billion investment. In 2017, Ford hit its goal of cutting carbon dioxide emissions by 30 percent per vehicle a full eight years ahead of its established goal.

“We need to urgently scale up environmental action at all levels to meet both the goals of the Paris Agreement and sustainable development goals,” said Paul Simpson, CEO of CDP. “It’s clear the business world is an essential player in this transition and the A list companies are set to make a substantial contribution to those goals.”
