The Ford Focus Active crossover may not be coming to America, but it remains poised to become a leader in the crossover segment in Europe. Ford is offering the Focus Active with two unique drive modes that will add off-roading to its capabilities, making it a standout choice for those who crave adventure.

“Ford SUV sales grew more than 19 percent in October year-over-year, and SUVs now account for more than one in five Ford vehicles sold in Europe. Our Active family of crossover models offers a further compelling SUV-style option for customers,” said Roelant de Waard, vice president, Marketing, Sales, and Service, Ford of Europe.
“The all-new Focus Active does more than just look the part — its bespoke chassis and new Selectable Drive Mode options deliver genuine rough-road capability for families who want to explore off the beaten track.”
The Ford Focus Active’s Slippery mode adjusts Electronic Stability Control and traction control to provide additional control for muddy, snowy, and icy surfaces. Trail mode provides additional traction on sand, helping prevent against getting stuck with higher wheel spin to keep the tires clean. Both modes offer a more passive throttle response. These modes join the Normal, Sport, and Eco Selectable Driving Modes
The all-new Focus Active is offered in a hatchback and wagon body style, and both look quite fetching. It will, unfortunately, not be a fetching option for the American consumer: Though Ford had intended to import the Focus Active to the United States, tariffs on vehicle imports forced a stop to development. Though the tariffs are, per Bloomberg, no longer be in the offing, Ford has not suggested that its plans regarding the Focus Active have changed.
