While much hullabaloo is being about Ford’s domestic revamping and revitalizing, there’s plenty going on elsewhere that’s just as notable. In September, Ford officially opened its $190 million Global Technology and Business Center in Chennai, India. The new GTBC covers an incredible 2.5 million square feet, offering accommodations for up to 11,000 employees and amenities like a three-story food and fitness center.
The center serves as a Ford Business Solutions global hub and consists of two 12-floor office towers. The amenities center also includes collaborative space for employees to work together, and the campus hosts a Talent Center for recruitment and training purposes as well as an engineering and testing center. Additional employee amenities include a daycare facility, nursing room, a 3,600-seat cafeteria, and badminton court.

“The new workspace has varied settings allowing individuals to choose what works best for them,” said GTBC Human Resources Director Gangapriya Chakraverti. “With individual seating areas, collaborative meeting spaces to spaces that can allow for impromptu gathering of large teams, the new workspace offers many options.”
The grand opening event took place on Sept. 27 and was attended by GTBC Director Mike Brielmaier, Director of Ford Business Solutions Jodi Dudley, and International Markets Group Director Jose Maria Villarreal. Approximately 8,000 employees were on hand, partaking in everything from a laser light show to a live musical performance from Benny Dayal to the comedy stylings of Danish Sait.
Ford notes that the Global Technology and Business Center in Chennai is the first to implement the automaker’s new design philosophy for facilities, which will be reflected in the Dearborn campus revitalization and the new Corktown campus.
