Ford Swipes Five Stars for Transit Connect Wagon Safety Rating
According to a recent press release from the Blue Oval, the latest Ford Transit Connect Wagon safety rating is in, and it’s pretty darn bright. The Transit Connect nabbed five stars during testing with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), the administration’s highest possible rating.
“Transit Connect Wagon gives people on the go a unique-looking, fuel-efficient vehicle that also provides a high level of safety,” said Steve Kenner, director of Ford’s global automotive safety office. “The suite of safety and driver-assist features available on Transit Connect makes it a great choice for families and businesses.”
As it was developed, the Transit Connect Wagon underwent rigorous testing to ensure that it would meet very strict global commercial vehicle durability standards. In total, the Transit Connect Wagon saw the equivalent of more than 3 million miles during testing; 250,000 of those were in what Ford describes as “demanding on-road conditions.”

Furthering safety is the Transit Connect Wagon’s body structure. Over half of the structure is crafted using high-strength and ultrahigh-strength steels—even 16 percent boron steel. In addition, the wagon features driver and passenger side airbags for occupants in the front. All other occupants benefit from side curtain airbags.
The Transit Connect Wagon also boasts driver-assist and safety features. Available features include a rear view camera and forward- and rear-sensing systems. MyKey® technology is also available.
