Ford’s October Sales Dip, Fusion Has Best October Ever
Ford’s October sales were down 2.7% from 2013, totaling 179,771 units. While the slight dip didn’t come as much of a surprise given the necessary space-making for the 2015 F-150, there were more than a enough highlights for the Blue Oval in October for it to be considered a successful month.
Foremost among Ford’s successes was the Fusion, which posted its best October sales mark ever and notched a sixth straight month of record movement. 22,846 Ford Fusions were delivered in October, marking a 5% increase and bringing the Fusion’s to-date total to 263,431 units.
“Fusion is an outstanding success story with October marking six straight months of record sales,” said John Felice, Ford vice president, U.S. Marketing, Sales and Service. “Fusion is on pace to break the 300,000-vehicle mark this year for the first time ever.”
Ford Escape also enjoyed its best October ever with total sales of 24,919 units, up 12% year-over-year. The Explorer also added its best all-time October performance with 14,455 units sold and a 6.4% increase over 2013 sales.
F-Series sales were steady at 63,410 units, bringing sales of Ford pickup trucks to 620,447 units to date. Other Ford models with year-over-year sales increases were the Flex (up 4.6%), Police Interceptor Utility (up 19.8%), Expedition (up 18.1%), Transit Connect (up 28.4%), and the heavy duty truck lineup (up 5.4%).
