General Motors and its joint ventures delivered a total of 293,537 vehicles to customers in China last month, setting a new August sales record. GM’s sales were up 18% year-over-year and driven by new additions to its product portfolio aimed specifically at younger and affluent consumers.

“Our mainstream passenger car entries drove our sales momentum,” said GM Executive Vice President and GM China President Matt Tsien. “We are looking to build on our success by adding another five new and refreshed models in the final four months.”

Four of GM’s brands in China—Chevrolet, Buick, Cadillac, and Baojun—set record high sales totals for August.

Sales reached 38,706 units for Chevrolet in August, driven by more than 19,000 deliveries for the Cruze vehicle family that just added the all-new version this past July. Sales look to be strong again in August with the launch of both the Cavalier and Camaro.

Buick’s sales were up 23% with 94,188 units, led by both the Excelle GT sedan and Envision SUV. The latter of the two saw 53% year-over-year sales growth. Sales of the Verano were also greater than 13,000 units.

Cadillac sales rose 93% to 9,914 units behind the success of both the ATS-L and the all-new XT5, both of which accounted for more than 3,000 deliveries.

Baojun set an August record with 51,099 vehicles delivered, reflecting a 41% year-over-year increase. Sales of the Baojun 730 were up 37%, and sales of the Baojun 560 were up 52%.

Wuling sales were up 8% year-over-year with a total of 99,589 vehicles delivered.
