Honda July Sales: CR-V Sets Record, Accord Hits 7th Month of 30K+ Sales
July was not the most fortuitous month for American Honda overall, but there were some bright spots across the board. American Honda sales were down 3.9 percent, Honda Division was down 2.3 percent, and Acura Division was down 17.6 percent, but July was not short for new monthly records and impressive marks for some of Honda and Acura’s most popular models.
Naturally, the Accord was Honda’s biggest mover, notching a seventh consecutive month of more than 30,000 sales and improving 11.3 percent over its July 2013 sales figure.
The Civic also notched a 30,000 unit month despite being down 7.3 percent year-over-year.
The CR-V did not eclipse 30,000 units, but it did score its best July sales mark ever with 28,522 units. The CR-V retains its spot as the best-selling SUV in America with a year-to-date total of 183,214 units shipped.
“The CR-V continues to cement its place as America’s favorite and best-selling SUV with yet another record month of sales,” said Jeff Conrad, Honda division senior vice president and general manager. “Combined with Accord, which is on its way to become the most popular car in the U.S. for a second straight year, Honda once again has the vehicles of choice in two of the biggest market classes.”
The Honda Fit continues to build momentum as dealers nationwide build their inventory, with the popular hatchback notching its best sales month of year.
Despite being down on the month, Acura can hang its hat on a July record (6,283 units and a 13.2 percent YoY increase) from the MDX and the anticipation of strong sales forthcoming from the newly-released TLX.
