Honda Sets Sept. 29 Street Date for New Civic in Japan

Honda has announced that its new Civic lineup—consisting of the Civic Sedan, Civic Hatchback, and Civic Type R—will officially hit the streets in its native Japan on Sept. 29.

To build a headwind of anticipation for the arrival of the all-new Civic, Honda also kicked off its advertising campaign for the new vehicle, entitled “Go, Vantage Point,” at the end of July.

In announcing the launch date for the Civic, Honda also revealed price points for each variation. The Civic Hatchback will start at ¥2,800,440 JPY (approximately $25,618 USD) for models equipped with either the six-speed manual or continuously variable transmission (CVT). The Civic Sedan will only be offered with the CVT and will start at ¥2,650,320 JPY (approximately $24,245 USD), and the Civic Type R will start at ¥4,500,360 JPY (approximately $41,169 USD). All prices include an 8% consumption tax but do not include other taxes, insurance premiums, or registration costs.

It was revealed that the Civic Sedan will be offered in five colors: White Orchid Pearl, Luna Silver Metallic, Crystal Black Pearl, Premium Crystal Red Metallic, and Cosmic Blue Metallic. White Orchid Pearl will be a paid color option that carries an additional charge of ¥37,800 JPY (approximately $345 USD)(consumption tax included).

The Civic Hatchback will be offered in White Orchid Pearl, Luna Silver Metallic, Crystal Black Pearl, Flame Red, and Brilliant Sporty Blue Metallic. White Orchid Pearl costs and extra ¥37,800, and Premium Crystal Red Metallic adds ¥59,400 JPY (approximately $543 USD) to the final price (consumption tax included with both). Both the Civic Sedan and Civic Hatchback are offered with black interiors; leather is available as a factory option for CVT-equipped models.

The Civic Type R will be offered in Championship White, Crystal Black Pearl, Flame Red, and Brilliant Sporty Blue Metallic. On the inside, it will be offered with an exclusive Red/Black interior theme.
