Jenner’s Tragic Accident is Latest in Line of Incidents Involving Celebrities and Escalades
— USA TODAY (@USATODAY) February 9, 2015
This past Saturday, former Olympian Bruce Jenner was involved in a tragic multicar accident in Malibu that resulted in the death of a 69-year-old woman. In a somewhat unusual coincidence, it was only the latest in a long line of instances of unfortunate events revolving around celebrities and their Cadillac Escalades.
Two of the most recent incidents involve Justin Bieber. A little less than a year ago, police in Atlanta found marijuana and paraphernalia in the singer’s Escalade after an incident with paparazzo. A few months later, the same Escalade was involved in an accident with a BMW.
Prior to that, Paris Hilton’s famous cocaine arrest stemmed from a police officer detecting the odor of marijuana emanating from an Escalade in Las Vegas back in 2010. Hilton ultimately pled guilty to possession and obstruction and was given the hammer-like punishment of a $2,000 fine and 200 hours of community service.

Infamously, the decline of once-flawless golfer Tiger Woods began in 2009 when he crashed his Escalade into a fire hydrant in Florida. From that moment, the multi-time champion’s numerous infidelities were revealed, leading to an eventual divorce from wife Elin Nordegren and a years-long title drought from which he has never recovered.
Naturally, the consequences of Jenner’s accident are significantly more severe, but it stands as another strange chapter in the history of one of the most popular vehicles among Hollywood’s elite.
