Mitsubishi Ground Tourer Concept Might Preview Next-Generation Outlander
Earlier this summer, Mitsubishi gave the world a glimpse of its Ground Tourer Concept courtesy of a shadowed teaser image. Now, the Japanese carmaker has completely unveiled the concept car, which is set to debut at the Paris Motor Show later this month, and it is absolutely breathtaking.
Rumors are rolling about the Ground Tourer Concept, which is also called the GT-PHEV, and many people think that it previews the brand’s latest design language. The biggest rumor is that this vehicle is a glimpse of the next-generation Mitsubishi Outlander crossover’s styling. If this is the case, we don’t think anyone will be disappointed with a vehicle this gorgeous in the Mitsubishi lineup.
The Ground Tourer features a massive grille, which is highlighted by sexy headlights that are similar to those on the Range Rover Evoque. Sculpted body lines give the concept car the look of a body builder, while its rounded rear end and floating roof give the crossover a futuristic feel. Overall, the entire vehicle is absolutely stunning—and completely unexpected coming from Mitsubishi.
Mitsubishi has yet to release any images of the interior, but has said in a statement that the concept “uses a horizontal dashboard that creates a spacious ambiance, making it easier for the driver to sense changes in vehicle attitude. Together with an instrument panel with a high center console, the cockpit-like interior wraps around its people, providing a sense of solace and security.” It will also be heavy on the leather upholstery, which matches the exterior roof color.
While we’re not sure the entirety of this concept car will make it to production—seeing as Mitsubishi is still struggling to get the already-established Outlander PHEV into the US market—we definitely hope some bits of the Ground Tourer concept will make their way into the next-gen Outlander.
