2014 Corvette Stingray Most Efficient Sports Car
Your hunt for the most efficient sports car is over.
When we first told you about the 2014 Chevy Corvette Stingray early last month, the focus was placed solely on the performance aspect of the legendary sports car, and rightfully so; the Stingray’s V8 engine pumps out 455 horsepower and 460 lb.-ft. of torque. Today, however, the spotlight is switching to the 2014 Corvette’s surprising efficiency. Could it be that we’ve found the most efficient sports car?
The 2014 Corvette Stingray is able to return 17 mpg city and 29 mpg highway. No other sports car on the market is able to produce at least 455 horsepower and return more than 29 mpg highway, effectively making the 2014 Stingray the most fuel efficient sports car on the market.
“The Corvette Stingray establishes the benchmark for modern performance cars by using technologies to deliver more performance and more miles per gallon,” said Tadge Juechter, executive chief engineer for the Corvette, in a press release. “We expect more and more performance cars will follow Corvette’s example.”
Other automakers would do well to follow Chevy’s example, or they’ll find their performance cars being left in the dust, both literally and in terms of fuel efficiency.
