The Nissan Micra Cup is gathering steam in Canada, kicking off its fifth season earlier this month at Ontario’s Canadian Tire Motorsport Park. Thanks to the affordable race car based on the Nissan Micra, it’s a great way for up-and-coming drivers to make their mark in motorsports. Rookie Marco Signoretti of Toronto is one of those drivers, and he’s ready to mix things up this weekend in Calabogie.

In the first 2019 racing event for the Nissan Micra Cup, reigning champion Olivier Bedard won the weekend’s two races. Signoretti finished second behind him in both outings, catching the attention of Nissan and race observers. Considering that Bedard has held on to the Nissan Micra Cup for three seasons, a rookie getting so close to first place has everyone talking.

To be clear, Signoretti has raced before in the world of karting. This is his first year behind the wheel of a Nissan Micra on the track, and he’s a member of the PayPal/Motorsports in Action team. While his performance at CTMP is pretty impressive, fans are waiting to see if he can handle what the Calabogie Motorsports Park track throws at him next.

The CMP track offers two different tracks for racers this upcoming weekend. Qualifying and the first race will be on a 2.81 km track, and the second race on Sunday will move to the longest course in Canada. It’s about 5.05 km and is sure to challenge even the more experienced Nissan Micra racers.
