Silverado 2500HD Alaskan Edition Officially Premiers at 2016 SEMA Show
Intended to show off GM’s new Alaskan Edition package, the Silverado 2500HD Alaskan Edition concept recently made its debut at the SEMA Show–and this truck comes with a lot of chrome.

At the bottom of the truck are 20-inch chrome wheels, which are complemented by a large chrome grille, bumpers, trailering mirrors, and additional shiny chrome emblems. However, all of that chrome is somewhat overshadowed by the huge stainless steel snowplow that’s equipped on the front of the truck. This plow is so heavy that a leveling kit had to be installed on the Alaskan Edition concept to ensure that its stance was even.
Powering the concept is the redesigned 6.6-liter turbo-diesel V8 engine that’s available with Chevrolet’s 2017 lineup of Silverado HD trucks. That diesel motor is rated at 445 horsepower and 910 lb-ft of torque, which represents a 19% increase in torque over of what’s currently offered by the 2016 version of the Duramax diesel engine.
SEMA guests who venture inside the Alaskan Edition concept will see unique Alaskan-themed embroidery across the seats, as well as a well-thought-out rubberized floor that was designed to make sweeping out snow and slush easier.
“No matter what the weather brings, Chevrolet HD trucks are designed to make the toughest jobs easier,” said Chevrolet Truck Marketing Director Sandor Piszar. “The new Alaskan Edition gives customers in snow country a stronger tool for tackling the worst that winter throws at them.”
Besides the Silverado 2500HD Alaskan Edition concept, Chevrolet also brought approximately 20 more vehicles to Las Vegas, including the jaw-dropping Camaro SS Slammer concept.
