The Fast and The Furious Supra Sells for $185K
Last month, right at the height of the fever pitch surrounding Furious 7, it was revealed that the 1993 Toyota Supra driven by Paul Walker’s character in the original 2001 film would be going up for auction at the May 12-17 Mecum Car Auction in Indianapolis. The auction has come to pass, and the Supra has been sold off to the highest bidder for the low, low price of $185,000.
Despite the fact that this Supra was portrayed as a 10-second car during the film—ultimately beating Dominic Toretto’s 1970 Dodge Charger in a cataclysmic climactic drag race—the actual vehicle isn’t likely to beat too many heavily-tuned vehicles off the line. Under the hood, a 3.0-liter inline-six puts out a respectable but not mind-blowing 220 horsepower, meaning that this performance car is largely for show.
For those purposes, however, it’s good to go. With a full body kit and an unmistakable orange paintjob, this is a can’t-miss collectable that is sure to only become more valuable over time as the franchise’s success grows. (Just this week, Dwayne Johnson confirmed that he will have a role in Furious 8 and that his character may receive his own spinoff film somewhere down the line.)
