Toyota Motor North America reported November 2019 sales of 207,857 vehicles, marking its best-ever November — an impressive feat amid stagnating or even declining sales for the overall industry.

Total sales were up 9.2 percent on a volume basis and 5.0 percent on a daily selling rate basis compared to November 2018, or 8.4 percent and 4.2 percent for the Toyota division, respectively. Both the Toyota division and the Lexus division also reported best-ever November performances.

As you might imagine, such a good overall month came with lots of individual model highlights — and almost as always led by the RAV4. Sales for the popular SUV were up 26.4 percent, marking its own best-ever November with a whopping 44,665 units sold. The RAV Hybrid accounted for 10,057 of these.

Three other models also reported a best-ever November: the 4Runner, the Tacoma, and the CH-R, all contributing to a best-ever November (yes, again) for Toyota division light truck sales.

Corolla and Prius sales were up 17.3 and 11.9 percent, respectively, the only models other than the RAV4 to post double-digit increases and showing once more that contrary to what some believe, consumers actually are interested in compact cars and sedans, as long as they are good enough and manufacturers actually market them (lookin’ at you, Ford).

The Camry was the second-best-selling vehicle in Toyota’s lineup after the RAV4 with 25,611 units sold, up 4.3 percent over November 2018, just enough to keep it ahead of the Corolla and to help Toyota’s car division achieve 60,603 units sold, up 8.6 percent.
