Earlier this year, The News Wheel wrote about Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway, a new road trip-based attraction coming to Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Disney has just revealed that Hollywood Studios won’t be the only theme park to receive the attraction, and it will also be added to Disneyland

The upcoming attraction will reportedly be located in the Mickey’s Toontown section of the Disneyland park in Anaheim, California. Other attractions in this area include Roger Rabbit’s Car Toon Spin and Gadget’s Go Coaster.

Seeing as how this version of Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway doesn’t take place in a replica of Grauman’s Chinese Theater, the story plays out a bit differently. Whereas riders started out at the premiere of a new Mickey Mouse cartoon in the Hollywood Studios version of the attraction, guests will now directly enter the world of a Mickey Mouse cartoon, though Goofy will still serve as their guide and train conductor during the journey.

While Mickey Mouse has appeared at the Disney parks since Disneyland first opened back in 1955, Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway will be the first attraction to star the company’s large-eared icon. The attraction will be based on the most recent wave of Mickey Mouse cartoon shorts.

Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway utilizes a new technology that Disney has dubbed 2 ½ -D. This creates the same effect as 3-D, all without the need for specialized glasses.

Disney’s announcement of Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway’s addition to Disneyland did come with some unfortunate news, though. As it turns out, the Florida version of the ride, which was originally set to open in the fall of 2019, has now been delayed until spring of 2020.

As for when Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway will officially open at Disneyland, Disney has set a tentative opening date of 2022. Disney fanatics will not have to wait long at all to embark on a journey with their favorite mouse, regardless of which U.S. coast they call home.
