U.S. News arrives at its annual brand rankings by crunching numbers and gathering feedback from a broad selection of studies and reviews. What gave Hyundai the edge?

According to the publication’s research, Hyundai SUV models deliver an attractive blend of affordable pricing, generous standard features, and robust scores for reliability and safety. Another point in the automaker’s favor: its industry-leading 10-year/100,000-mile powertrain warranty.

Thanks to the work Hyundai has put in over the past few years, these advantages can be found on a much wider range of SUVs. The automaker’s newest models include everything from the pint-sized entry-level Venue and Kona to the eight-passenger Palisade.

Hyundai is improving its older SUVs, too. The 2021 Santa Fe was recently refreshed. Meanwhile the 2022 Tucson is coming out next year with a complete redesign. Both models will soon be available with hybrid powertrains.

For eco-conscious buyers, there’s even more in the Hyundai SUV lineup. The Kona Electric and the hydrogen fuel-cell Nexo provide efficiency, extended driving range, and cutting-edge technologies.

“As Hyundai continues to recognize the needs of our current and future customers, we are elated to received such a prestigious accolade by U.S. News & World Report for the 2021 Best SUV Brand during one of the most competitive SUV retail markets yet,” said Olabisi Boyle, vice president of product planning and mobility strategy for Hyundai Motor North America. “We know that shoppers have different needs, so at Hyundai we’ve developed an all-encompassing SUV lineup that exceeds those needs.”

Hyundai doesn’t plan on slowing down its SUV initiatives any time soon. Over the next few years, it plans on releasing a new all-electric Ioniq SUV, N performance variants, and even the Santa Cruz truck-SUV mashup.
