Nearly one million models of the Touareg’s previous generations have been sold across the globe, and the new Touareg “takes a top position in the premium class SUV segment with its expressive design, its innovative operating, convenience and safety systems, as well as in the high quality of its materials and craftsmanship,” according to Volkswagen.
The new Touareg features the Volkswagen Innovision Cockpit, which showcases the 15-inch display of the Discover Premium infotainment system and the 12-inch display Digital Cockpit. Also featured in the new Touareg are innovative driver assist technologies such as Roadwork Lane Assist, Night Vision assistance system, active all-wheel steering, Front Cross Traffic Assistance, and the Windshield Head-up Display that highlights information onto the windscreen.
“Like a new smartphone, the Volkswagen is set up and tuned to personal needs. This is made possible by a new high level of connected systems and programs — controlled via digital interfaces and the multifunction steering wheel,” Volkswagen reports.

For the European market the Touareg will be powered by one of two V6 diesel engine options, capable of generating 170 kW and 210 kW.
“In a number of markets, this will also be followed by a V6 petrol engine (250 kW/340 PS) and a V8 turbodiesel (310 kW/421 PS). A new plug-in hybrid drive (270 kW/367 PS of system power) is being prepared for China; its exact launch date in Europe is still open,” reports Volkswagen.
