2013 Ford Focus Overview
What’s New for the 2013 Ford Focus
For the 2013 model year, the Ford Focus abandons the SEL trim and instead offers more standard and optional equipment, especially on the SE version.
2013 Ford Focus Exterior
The 2013 Ford Focus features a lower, sleeker windshield rake and flowing roofline to better emphasize its more aggressive and aerodynamic nature. The wheelbase has also been extended to create a more planted stance. This is one of the first cars to embody Ford’s latest “kinetic design” styling language. We’re honestly not sure what that even means, but we won’t bother asking because whatever it is, it looks great.

2013 Ford Focus Performance
The 2013 Ford Focus is powered by a 2.0-liter direct-injected four-cylinder engine that produces 160 horsepower and 146 pound-feet of torque, which can be paired either to a 5-speed manual or 6-speed dual-clutch automatic. Higher trim levels gain SelectShift capability via a rocker switch on the shift lever.
Eco-conscious buyers will be interested in the available Focus Electric, which is powered by a 107-kilowatt electric motor that draws power from a 23 kWh liquid-cooled lithium-ion battery pack. It produces 143 horsepower and 184 pound-feet of torque with a projected 76 mile range.
2013 Ford Focus Efficiency
The 2013 Ford Focus delivers 26 mpg city/36 mpg highway with a standard setup. Mileage goes up to 28/36 with the automatic transmission and 27/37 with the SelectShift automatic. A special SFE package can bump those numbers up to 28/40. The Focus Electric is the real star when it comes to efficiency, however, with a city/highway fuel economy equivalent of 110/99 MPGe.
2013 Ford Focus Interior
Despite the affordable cost, the 2013 Ford Focus is able to boast an interior that looks and feels as though it belongs in a much more expensive car, thanks to plentiful soft-touch surfaces and sound-attenuation materials. The optional MyFord Touch infotainment system adds extra customization and convenience via an attractive central display, and the front seats offer as much comfort and support as one could want even over long distances.

2013 Ford Focus Safety
The 2013 Ford Focus comes with antilock brakes, stability control, front side and side curtain airbags. The MyKey system can be used by parents to set parameters for teen drivers, and the Ford Sync system will automatically dial 911 after a crash through a paired compatible cell phone. In government testing, the Focus received four out of five stars for overall crash protection.
