2014 Chevy Impala and Traverse Place on KBB’s 12 Best Family Cars List
Kelley Blue Book has put together its list of the 12 Best Family Cars of 2014, and two Chevrolet vehicles have found themselves in KBB’s good graces for their commitments to safety, comfort, performance, roominess, and fun: the 2014 Chevy Impala and Traverse.
KBB’s 12 Best Family Cars of 2014 includes two minivans, four full-size SUVs, three small SUVs, and three sedans, meaning that none of the entries are ranked in any particular order. Rather, all twelve vehicles are recommended for their superlative combination of performance, reliability, and usefulness for a modern family.
It took nine editors to whittle the list down from 21 to 12, and the 2014 Chevy Impala and Traverse both make the cut for having an abundance of the things families need in a vehicle.
“We designed the Chevrolet Impala and Traverse precisely to offer a wide suite of useful family-friendly features,” said Russ Clark, Chevrolet director of marketing, in a press release. “It is good to see that KBB.com and the customers they surveyed agree.”
All told, four full-size SUVs made the cut—including the Traverse—for arguably replacing the minivan as the go-to ride for larger families. The number of sedans that made the cut seemed to surprise even the judges at KBB.
“What was surprising was the number of sedans that we feel qualify for the highest accolades as family cars,” says KBB’s overview of the winners. “Once upon a time, sedans were the family car of choice before minivans and SUVs showed up on the scene. Yet the modern sedan still makes a fine family car, and the 2014 Honda Accord, 2014 Chevrolet Impala, and 2014 Nissan Altima each impressed us enough to land spots on our list.”
