2015 Corvette Z06 Weight Beats Out Previous Models
In a day and age in which automakers are constantly trying to reduce vehicle weight, both to enhance performance and improve fuel efficiency, Chevrolet has added a significant amount of weight to the new Corvette Z06, which is capable of 650 horsepower and 650 lb-ft of torque. In fact, official 2015 Corvette Z06 weight ratings have come in at 3,524 lbs for the coupe and 3,582 lbs for the convertible.
This marks a 349 lb increase over the outgoing Corvette Z06. On top of that, GM Authority reports that this is even 191 lbs heavier than the outgoing Chevy ZR1.
But will this added weight actually affect performance. That doesn’t seem to be the case. Already, prototypes of the new Z06 reset the lap record at Milford—and they weren’t even fully calibrated. The engine, in a gross understatement, is a beast.
