What’s New for the 2015 Infiniti QX80?

Infiniti renamed the QX80 for the 2014 model year (previously, it was known as the QX56). For 2015, the full-size SUV gets some minor styling updates, more interior features, and the latest technology—all of which are expected by someone looking to buy this caliber of vehicle.

As a large SUV, the 2015 Infiniti QX80 has a bulky exterior design that’s quite unique in its segment. The luxury automaker has redesigned the SUV’s grille to bring it more in line with the much smaller Q50 sedan. Additionally, you’ll find new LED bulbs in the headlamps, turn signals, and fog lamps. The bumper is restyled, and Infiniti has added sonar sensors for increased safety.

Extra luxury is available in the QX80 Limited trim, including dark-finish headlights, tinted taillights, pool lighting, brushed-finish running boards, and dark-finish chrome trim and 22-inch wheels.

The front end of the 2015 QX80 houses a gigantic 5.6-liter V8 engine good for 400 ponies and 413 lb-ft of torque. The engine is powered by a seven-speed automatic transmission, which sends power to the rear wheels. Alternatively, drivers can opt for the available four-wheel-drive model for even more traction off-road and in inclement weather.

Based on its massive and powerful V8 engine, nobody would realistically expect the 2015 Infiniti QX80 to get good gas mileage. And you won’t be disappointed; the QX80 is rated at 14 mpg in the city and 20 mpg on the highway for a combined rating of 16 mpg. While that’s comparable to other models in the large SUV segment, it also means you’ll be spending a pretty penny at the pump if you plan on doing much driving.

The QX80 has a starting MSRP of $63, 250, which sounds a bit steep, but gets you tons of luxurious features that make it well worth the investment. These include leather upholstery, a sunroof, a Bose premium audio system with navigation and 13 speakers, tri-zone automatic climate control, second-row bucket seats and a third-row bench seat, wood burl accents, and more. When the power third-row seats are folded down, the QX80 offers a whopping 95 cubic feet of cargo space.

In other words, the QX80 is perfect for families, but it’s not your average mommy-mobile.

Additional safety features include blind spot warning, predictive forward collision warning, backup collision intervention, intelligent cruise control, lane departure warning, and distance control assist.
