2015 Ram 1500 EcoDiesel HFE Boasts 29 MPG
Far and away, the big news out of Ram today was the unleashing of the new Ram 1500 Rebel, but the automaker also managed to squeeze in some news about the new 2015 Ram 1500 EcoDiesel HFE, which delivers best-in-class fuel economy on the highway—even though the EcoDiesel alone already held the title for best-in-class fuel economy at 28 mpg.
The HFE name stands for–you guessed it–highway fuel efficency, to mark Ram’s new achievement in the full-size truck market. But Ram is right to boast, as 29 mpg is a whopping 12% better than its closest competitor’s highway fuel rating. City and combined ratings for the EcoDiesel HFE are 21 mpg and 24 mpg, respectively, which are also among the best in the segment.
“Fuel efficiency is at the top of truck buyers’ priorities, and Ram is the recognized benchmark for the industry,” explained Bob Hegbloom, the President and CEO of Ram Truck Brand. “Twenty-nine miles per gallon cuts through the clutter. Ram invested in powertrain technologies and those are paying real dividends in the wallets of our customers.”
And because doing good deeds is all about getting recognized publicly for those deeds and not at all about making a difference in the world, the eco-friendly drivers who choose the 2015 Ram 1500 EcoDiesel HFE can show off their good stewardship to the earth with some HFE badging that lets the world know they’re driving something super efficient, and not just the regular EcoDiesel.
But let’s just be happy that the badging isn’t quite as big as the “RAM” stamped onto the tailgate of the new Rebel.
The new Ram EcoDiesel HFE will hit the market sometime late in the first quarter of this year.
