2017 Honda Clarity Electric Arrives at California and Oregon Dealers With $269 Per Month Lease
In the never-ending debate over whether America’s best coast is the East or West Coast, the latter just earned another point in its favor, as Honda’s all-new, five-passenger, zero-emissions electric vehicle is now on sale in California and Oregon.
Today Honda announced that the 2017 Honda Clarity Electric sedan has arrived at select dealerships in Cali and Oregon, carrying an introductory lease price of $269 (plus tax) a month for 36 months.
The lease terms also include an attractive allowance of 20,000 miles per year and 24/7 roadside assistance. Reflecting a built-in federal tax credit, the Clarity’s lease requires $1,730 down, plus the first month’s lease payment due at signing (not including tax, registration or official fees). California and Oregon customers who apply may also qualify for their state’s rebates of $2,500 once they become available.

The Clarity Electric sedan is powered by a 161-horsepower (120-kilowatt) electric motor that yields 221 lb-ft of torque, and draws its energy from a 25.5-kWh lithium-ion battery pack. The new Clarity Electric can be fully charged in a little over three hours at 240 volts. The vehicle can reach an 80% charge in just 30 minutes when using DC fast charging with the SAE Combined Charging System.
The Clarity Electric also boasts an EPA fuel economy rating of 126/103/114 MPGe (city/highway/combined), and an EPA range rating of 89 miles on a full charge.
The Clarity Electric is just the latest release in Honda’s Clarity series, which also includes the initial Clarity Fuel Cell, which launched in December of last year with a $369 a month lease, and the Clarity Plug-in Hybrid, which will launch nationally later this year.
