The 2017 Hyundai Sonata is a front wheel-drive sedan that can hold up to five people in its spacious cabin. What’s New for the 2017 Hyundai Sonata?

For the 2017 model year, the Hyundai Sonata is available with Dynamic Bending Light. These unique headlights can be steered left and right in order to provide greater visibility while navigating corners. With the exception of that new tech feature, the 2017 Hyundai Sonata is basically unchanged for its new model year. However, some standard features have been rearranged through the lineup due to revised pricing.

2017 Hyundai Sonata Exterior

The 2017 Hyundai Sonata may not be as eye-catching as previous Sonatas, but the 2017 version still offers an attractive exterior that comes standard with chrome trimming around the windows, as well as 16-inch alloy wheels. But, for larger wheels, consumers can opt for the Sport trims, which also come with a dual exhaust system and LED daytime running lights. Moreover, for the latest technology, the Value Edition package that’s available on the Sport models provides a sunroof and hands-free opening trunk. Exterior color options for the new Hyundai Sonata include Scarlet Red, Lakeside Blue, and Phantom Black.

2017 Hyundai Sonata Performance

The 2017 Hyundai Sonata comes standard with a 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine that pumps out 185 horsepower and 178 lb-ft of torque. That motor works with a six-speed automatic gearbox to provide a calm and quiet ride. Also, unlike some other competitors, Hyundai does not offer a V6 engine with its mid-size sedan. Instead it offers consumers the ability to upgrade to a 2.0-liter turbo motor that’s rated at 245 horsepower and 260 lb-ft of torque. Lastly, Hyundai also offers a pair of hybrid powertrains, which increases fuel efficiency, as well as acceleration capabilities.

The 2017 Hyundai Sonata provides similar fuel efficiency as most of its rivals in the mid-size sedan segment. The base Sonata equipped with the 2.4-liter engine and six-speed automatic transmission yields an EPA-estimated 25 mpg in the city and 36 mpg on the highway. 2017 Sonatas using the turbo four-cylinder come with reduced fuel economy, as the Sport 2.0T trim yields just 22 mpg in the city and 31 mpg on the highway.

Because of its affordable price tag, it shouldn’t surprise people to learn that the 2017 Sonata doesn’t come standard with premium features such as leather upholstery and heated seats. 2017 Hyundai Sonata Safety

There aren’t too many vehicles that have received safety ratings as excellent as the Hyundai Sonata’s. In crash tests performed by the federal government, the Sonata sedan earned the best possible overall safety rating of five stars.
