Do you enjoy taking your canine companion (or companions) with you as you drive around town or head out on longer trips? Some vehicles are better than others for carrying your furry friends — and according to a new study by Autotrader, one of the best is the Buick Regal TourX.

“As one of the few true wagons on the market, the 2019 Buick Regal TourX makes an excellent dog-friendly transport,” Autotrader notes in its annual list of the 10 Best Cars for Dog Lovers.

Features that Autotrader prioritizes as friendly to canines include durable, easy-to-clean leather seats; tinted windows for a cooler interior; a level cargo floor to accommodate crates and beds; a low cargo area for easy entry and exit; rear air vents; and cargo area tie-downs.

For the Regal TourX, Autotrader lists a variety of specific qualities that dogs will love:

  • Cargo space that beats many compact crossovers
  • A 40/20/40 split-folding rear seat to make the interior even roomier
  • A wide rear hatch for big dogs and big dog crates
  • Low ride height so dogs of all sizes and ages can easily climb aboard
  • Available leather seating
  • A cushy, bump-absorbing suspension for smooth rides

The Regal TourX has been selling slowly this year, down nearly 34 percent over the first six months of 2018. However, as Autotrader points out, there aren’t many wagon-style vehicles available these days, and many of them are more expensive models manufactured by luxury automakers like Mercedes-Benz, Volvo, and Audi. If you’re seeking an affordable new ride that you can share with your pup, the TourX is definitely worth a look.
