Performance
The 2019 GMC Sierra 2500HD carries a standard Vortec 6.0-liter V8 engine that delivers 360 horsepower and 380 lb-ft of torque. This engine comes paired with a heavy-duty six-speed automatic transmission.
The Sierra 2500HD is also available with a Duramax 6.6-liter turbo-diesel V8 engine that puts out 445 horsepower and 910 lb-ft of torque. It’s mated to an Allison 1000 six-speed automatic transmission.
Both transmission options include features like tow/haul mode and auto grade braking for steep descents.

Capabilities
The 2019 Sierra 2500HD boasts powerful towing capabilities. With the gas V8, it can yank 14,500 pounds (15,400 with fifth-wheel or gooseneck equipment). The diesel V8 can also pull up to 14,500 pounds, but with a fifth-wheel or gooseneck hitch, that number rises to 18,100 pounds.
The Sierra 2500HD can handle a big payload, too: up to 3,276 pounds. Standard-box models offer cargo volume of up to 61 cubic feet, and long-box models raise that to 76.3 cubic feet.
Exterior Features
On the exterior, all Sierra 2500HD models come equipped with a CornerStep rear bumper, recovery hooks, cargo tie-downs, and cab-mounted lamps for the cargo box. LED cargo box lighting, an EZ-Lift and Lower Tailgate with remote locking, power-adjustable trailering mirrors, assist steps, and a spray-on bedliner can be added as options.
Interior Features
The Sierra 2500HD’s four trim levels offer a wide range of interior features. Inside the cabin, folding seats come standard, with heating, ventilation, and cloth or leather trim offered as options on higher trims. Other available interior features include underseat storage, dual-zone automatic climate control, and a heated and leather-wrapped steering wheel.
Safety and Infotainment Tech
To keep drivers connected, the 2019 Sierra 2500HD offers a standard 7-inch GMC Infotainment System with Bluetooth, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay smartphone integration, voice command, and an AM/FM stereo. Available upgrades include an 8-inch touch screen, navigation, SiriusXM satellite radio, and 4G LTE Wi-Fi hotspot capability.
To keep drivers safe, six airbags, a rearview camera, and StabiliTrak electronic stability control come standard on the Sierra 2500HD. The truck can also be equipped with a variety of available advanced safety systems, including Forward Collision Alert, Lane Departure Warning, and Park Assist.
