The 2019 Hyundai Ioniq Hybrid boasts a highly efficient powertrain with Prius-beating combined fuel economy, but this car is more than just an eco-friendly ride. It’s also fun to drive, attractively designed, and equipped with an array of sophisticated active-safety features. The Ioniq Hybrid is available at three trim levels: Blue, SEL, and Limited.

What’s New?

For the 2019 model year, the Ioniq Hybrid offers a few new features. High Beam Assist and Driver Attention Alert are newly available safety systems. Enhanced voice recognition capabilities are available, too. Most significantly, the SEL trim now offers Automatic Emergency Braking, Lane Keep Assist, and Smart Cruise Control.

Performance and Efficiency

The 2019 Hyundai Ioniq Hybrid is powered by a 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine and a 32-kilowatt electric motor for a combined output of 139 horsepower and 218 lb-ft of torque. The Ioniq Hybrid’s six-speed EcoShift dual-clutch transmission enables fast shifts and responsive, efficient performance. Every trim offers excellent fuel economy, with the best numbers coming from the Blue trim: 58 mpg combined, the most of any non-plug-in vehicle on the U.S. market. The SEL and Limited trims aren’t far behind, yielding 55 mpg combined.

Exterior Features

The exterior of the 2019 Ioniq Hybrid combines streamlined good looks and features for a more convenient drive. Efficiency-boosting active grille shutters and an integrated rear spoiler come standard, as do automatic headlights and a door handle approach light. Higher trims offer conveniences like heated mirrors, HID headlights, and LED taillights.

Interior Features

Inside the 2019 Ioniq Hybrid, drivers will find comfortable surroundings and must-have connectivity features. Dual-zone automatic temperature control, push-button start, and premium cloth seats come standard. All trims are equipped with a 7-inch display screen, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay smartphone integration, and Bluetooth hands-free phone tech. Available upgrades include a power tilt-and-slide sunroof, leather trim, a 10-way power driver’s seat, and Hyundai’s Blue Link connected services.

Safety Equipment

The 2019 Hyundai Ioniq delivers reliable protection at every level. Features like a rearview camera, a driver’s blind-spot mirror, an advanced air-bag system, anti-lock brakes, and Vehicle Stability Management technology come standard. The SEL and Limited trims add technologies like Automatic Emergency Braking with Pedestrian Detection, Lane Keep Assist, Smart Cruise Control, and Blind Spot Detection with Rear Cross-Traffic Alert and Lane Change Assist.
