Ford Performance News: Ford Ranger gets a trio of Performance Packages
Earlier this year, Ford announced that the 2021 Mustang Mach 1 will make its glorious return to the United States next spring. Ford calls the new Mustang its most track-capable 5.0-liter V8-powered pony car ever.
“The Mach 1 not only looks the part, but has the hardware to deliver on-track thrills and on-road driving pleasure that Mustang enthusiasts demand,” said Mustang Mach 1 chief program engineer for Europe Matthias Tonn. “It’s the most exciting Mustang in Europe to date, and we are thrilled to be bringing the iconic Mach 1 name to Europe for the first time.”

At Goodwood Speedweek, the emphasis with the debuting Mach 1 was on movement and control since European models will get the Handling Package standard. Ford boasted its performance calibrated MangeRide dampers, stiffer springs and anti-roll bars, and re-spec’d bushes as key components that help it handle like a dream. It’s mighty responsive, too, thanks to recalibrated electric power-assisted steering and subframes and toe-link components from the mighty Shelby GT350 and GT500.
In addition to being the best-handling and sharpest-steering Mustang Ford has ever offered in Europe, the 2021 Mach 1 is also the first to offer the Tremec 3160 six-speed manual transmission. With a short-throw shifter, twin-disc clutch, and rev-matching, the six-speed manual makes the driving experience feel even more rewarding. It’s a wonder Ford didn’t call the 2021 Mustang Mach 1 the most hands-on Mustang ever offered in Europe.
Ford serves up Mach 1 AR experience
Ford hopes to build hype for its Mach 1 with a new augmented reality experience. Ford’s Mach 1 AR experience lets customers interact with a virtual Mach 1, placing it in the real world to behold in all its glory. Users can use the technology to create a short, sharable video with the Mach 1. The experience is available through mobile devices at fordmustangmach1ar.com.
