31 GM Models Will Be New or Refreshed for 2019-2020
That comes out to about 67% of the automaker's total lineup for the next 2 years
General Motors’ American lineup is poised to undergo a long list of changes over the next couple of model years.
A recent analysis by GM Authority estimates that 31 of the automaker’s 45 vehicles, or about 67%, will either be refreshed or redesigned for 2019 and 2020. Notably, almost all of the newly redesigned models are SUVs, crossovers, and trucks — in keeping with those segments’ increasing importance to GM’s bottom line.
GM has already announced five redesigned and re-engineered vehicles for the 2019 model year, including the brand-new Cadillac XT4 and Chevrolet Blazer crossovers:
- Cadillac XT4
- Chevrolet Blazer
- Chevrolet Silverado 1500
- Chevrolet Silverado Medium Duty (4500HD/5500HD/6500HD)
- GMC Sierra 1500
Seven more GM models are getting a refresh for 2019:
- Buick Envision
- Cadillac CT6
- Chevrolet Camaro
- Chevrolet Cruze
- Chevrolet Malibu
- Chevrolet Spark
- Chevrolet Volt

For the 2020 model year, GM is expected to announce complete makeovers for a whopping 14 models, including the brand-new Cadillac XT6 three-row crossover.

- Cadillac XT6
- Chevrolet Mid-Engine Corvette

Five more GM models are likely to receive refreshes for 2020:
- Buick LaCrosse
- Cadillac XT5
- Chevrolet Colorado
- GMC Acadia
- GMC Canyon
GM has also announced plans to introduce more than 20 zero-emissions vehicles around the world by 2023, including two all-electric models by 2020. It’s not clear yet whether any of those might arrive in time for the 2020 model year.
