Bridge Drop (Charlevoix)

A refreshing take on the NYC ball drop, the Bridge Drop in Charlevoix provides a range of fun activities on New Year’s Eve. Afternoon pastimes include horse-drawn wagon rides, chalk art demonstrations, a showing of “Toy Story 4” at Charlevoix Cinema III, and s’mores and hot cocoa in East Park. Stop by in the evening to catch the fireworks show at 9 p.m. And stay through midnight to watch the Charlevoix Memorial Drawbridge go up and come down. A fireworks finale concludes the night’s festivities.

Torchlight Parade (Harbor Springs)

Head to Nub’s Nob ski resort on Dec. 31 at 6 p.m. to witness skiers making two runs down the Smokey trail with flare in hand for a unique light display. This free event is open to the public and early enough in the night that you can bring along the whole family.

Detroit Princess Riverboat (Detroit)

Ring in 2020 with a boat ride on the Detroit River when you reserve tickets for one of the two New Year’s Eve dinner cruises that Detroit Princess Riverboat offers. Both cruises will feature a dinner buffet, party favors, and dancing. The Motown one will feature a tribute to Detroit’s Motown with a live performance by the Prolifics. The DJ dinner cruise will provide a spectrum of music in a variety of genres.

New Year’s Eve Contra and Square Dance (Lansing)

Learn a new style of dance while making new friends and releasing some endorphins on New Year’s Eve. The Dewitt Township Community Center will host this fun event. The dance officially starts at 8 p.m. and continues through midnight. Though, if you’re new to contra, make sure to catch the new dancer workshop at 7:30 p.m.
