When you’re checking out a car, you may be looking at the beautiful frame of the car or the lush interior. You’ll ask about its top speed or gas mileage before taking it out on a test drive.
What you probably won’t ask is how fast does it brake. Although incredibly important, brakes aren’t exactly the sexiest thing about a car. No one is bragging about their recent brake pad installations.
But, those brake pad installations are incredibly important. They keep you and your car from turning into smashed up little bits on the road.
We decided to check out some of the production cars with the fastest brake time in the world. Let’s get stopping!
All these cars were tested to see their average distance going from 60-0 mph, or 100-0 km/h.

First on our list is this Chevrolet Corvette. Even if you’re not the biggest car junkie in the world, it’s hard to not have heard of the name Corvette.
This Corvette stopped in just 31 meters, quite impressive for a car that’s over 12 years old. Not only does it stop incredibly quickly, but it’s a fine-looking car as well.

Mercedes-Benz AMG GT S
In production since 2015, this Mercedes-Benz model comes loaded with just about everything you want. With a top speed of 155 MPH, it may be hard to even think about stopping.
But it did make the stop quite well, coming in at 30.3 meters. Not only does it stop, but it sure is a beautiful sight to behold.

Making the stop in 30.1 meters, this Camaro is a lightweight car that has usually blown out the competition when it comes to braking distance.
It comes as no surprise, as this American muscle car tends to be top-ranked year after year on just about everyone’s list.
2017 BMW M5
The BMW M5 made the stop right at 30 meters, making putting it firmly on our list for one of the top braking cars. The original model ran from 1998-2003.
BMW brought back the car in 2017 and has been making them ever since, with a brand new model coming in 2020. It will still have the same style and class you know from BMW. Let’s just hope the newer model can live up to the braking feats that the earlier models achieved.

If there’s one car on this list we’d choose to star alongside us in our own action hero movie, it would have to be the Porsche 918. Not only does it look great, but it can reach a top speed of 214 MPH.
In terms of braking distance, it made the stop in just 28.6 meters, quite an accomplishment for such an amazing looking vehicle.
Now we just have to think of a name for our movie.
Porsche 911 Carrera S
2016 Porsche 911 Carrera S Cabriolet
One look at this car and you might notice that it’s a slightly older model with an older feel to it. Don’t let that fool you though, because its stopping distance is still top-notch.
Making the stop at 28.5 meters, the 911 just barely outperformed the 918. You can still expect big things to come from Porsche, even with their newer models.

Another day, another Chevy but can you blame us? While you might be distracted by the lush, perfect interior once you step inside the car, it performed incredibly well in the test.
It stopped at 28.1 meters, putting it near the top of our list. The newest model was recently awarded the MotorTrend Car of the Year award so if you’re looking to make a big and meaningful purchase, you might have to go with the Stingray.
2016 Ferrari LaFerrari
Known for being incredibly rare and cheap, you may not know that these cars also have incredible braking distance. Making the stop at 27.9 meters, the LaFerrari tops our list for fastest braking distances.
You’re going to have to shell out more than a pretty penny for this car, but it’ll be sure to stop if you ever end up deciding to do that.
