The 2021 Lexus UX is a luxury compact crossover that offers both hybrid and conventional powertrains. It sets itself apart with hatchback-like styling, ample safety technology, and class-leading fuel efficiency.

For the latest model year, both the standard and hybrid models of the Lexus UX gained a handful of updates. The conventional model now sports a rear adjustable cargo board, which gives it a smidge more cargo room than its predecessor. Hybrid models, on the other hand, gained a bit more pep thanks to Lexus tweaking the car’s accelerator response. Both variants received additional standard driver-assist technology, including rear cross-traffic alert and blind-spot monitoring.

The Lexus UX comes equipped with standard aluminum roof rails and fog-preventing heated outside mirrors. Higher trims offer greater visibility thanks to automatic rain-sensing windshield wipers and triple-beam LED auto-leveling headlamps. These headlights even come with an adaptive front lighting system, which helps you see around corners and spot obstacles sooner.
F SPORT models come with unique styling cues, including 18-inch split-five-spoke alloy wheels, exclusive badging, a signature grille, and custom bumpers.

On the inside, the Lexus UX can accommodate five passengers and up to 17.1 cubic feet of cargo in the conventional model. The hybrid offers a bit more cargo room, with a maximum of 21.7 cubic feet. Both variants come standard with a dual-zone climate control system, an interior air filter, and leather accents throughout the interior.
The Lexus UX offers a range of available comfort features, including heated and ventilated front seats, a heated steering wheel, an available power tilt-and-slide moonroof, and bolstered front seats on F SPORT models.
In terms of tech tools, the Lexus UX boasts plenty of connectivity tools. Every model is equipped with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and Amazon Alexa compatibility, along with a six-speaker audio setup and the Lexus Multimedia System. Upgrade to one of the model’s higher trims for access to conveniences like a wireless charging station and a built-in Navigation System.
Thanks to its standard 2.0-liter inline-four engine, the Lexus UX delivers 169 horsepower and 151 lb-ft of torque. On the hybrid models, its power output jumps to 181 horsepower, while still offering an EPA-estimated 39 mpg combined. That gives it the distinction of being the most efficient non-plug-in-hybrid SUV on the market.
You can customize your driving experience with the standard Drive Mode Select feature, with Sport, Normal, and fuel-saving ECO settings. Hybrid models feature EV drive mode, for an emission-free ride.
Much like its Toyota cousins, Lexus models often come standard with more driver-assist technology than most of their competitors. The Lexus UX is no exception — it’s equipped with road sign assist, a pre-collision system with pedestrian detection, lane tracing assist, lane departure alert with steering assist, intelligent high beams, all-speed dynamic radar cruise control, and blind spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert. You can also opt for intuitive parking assist with automatic braking capabilities.
