Buick is discontinuing all Regal models, including the Sportback

Say goodbye to another car nameplate: the Buick Regal.
According to Buick, 2020 is the final model year for the Regal Sportback, Regal GS, and Regal TourX wagon, which will no longer be produced for the U.S. market.
The Regal’s cancellation means that Buick will no longer have any cars in its lineup. The brand has already axed its LaCrosse sedan, and the Cascada convertible is ending its run this year.
The decision was a simple one for the GM brand. Car sales have been declining for years, and nearly 90 percent of Buick’s sales now come from its crossover lineup. The Regal’s two models are only expected to reach about 10,000 units sold in 2019, down from just over 14,000 the year before.

Also factoring into the Regal’s cancellation: Motor Authority notes that GM has been paying Opel to build the model even after selling off the German automaker a few years ago.
Although the Regal will soon disappear from U.S. dealerships, Opel will still make it for the Chinese market, where cars are more popular than they are in America.
Buick has sold the Regal in various configurations since 1973, and it’s now in its sixth generation. In the current Regal lineup, the Sportback combines traditional sedan features with a liftback that offers extra cargo space. The GS is the high-performance version, boasting a 310-horsepower V6 engine, Brembo brakes, and sport-inspired features. The TourX is one of the few station wagons left on the market, offering up to 73.5 cubic feet of maximum cargo space.
