General Motors Sets July Sales Record in China | The News Wheel

General Motors and its joint ventures combined for a new July sales record with 270,529 vehicles delivered in China last month, an 18% year-over-year improvement. July sales also had the distinction of pushing sales of GM vehicles and vehicles manufactured as part of its joint ventures past the 2-million-unit mark, and pushing sales past that threshold faster than has ever been done before.

Through seven months, GM/GM’s joint ventures’ sales are up 6.8% at 2,081,005 units delivered.

“GM and our joint ventures managed to top 2 million deliveries in record time, as sales remained strong across many segments,” said GM Executive Vice President and GM China President Matt Tsien.

Buick, Cadillac, and Baojun all hit record high sales figures for the month of July. Buick sales were up 30% at a total of 89,404 units, led as ever by the trusty duo of the Excelle GT and Envision. Cadillac sales boomed 90% year-over-year to 8,757 units, driven by demand for the ATS-L and all-new XT5 eclipsing 2,600 units each and a 54% sales increase for the XTS. Baojun deliveries were up 61% with 44,320 units, which was led by a 23% increase for the Baojun 730 and the Baojun 560 more than tripling its sales.

Wuling sales were up for the second consecutive month despite the continued struggles of the mini-commercial vehicle segments, growing sales 6% year-over-year to a total of 97,728 units.

Chevrolet sales were down 15% year-over-year at 30,287 units, but the newly-introduced Cruze accounted for nearly half of that total just a month after its debut.
