2015 Murano Wins Popular Science “Best of What’s New”
The 2015 Nissan Murano only just began production last week in Canton, Mississippi, and it’s already won its first major distinction: a Popular Science “Best of What’s New” award.
The Popular Science “Best of What’s New” award honors products and technologies that signify major steps forward, and the 2015 Murano is honored for its myriad number of improvements over its predecessors.
“Unveiled in 2002, the Murano was a true original – a premium crossover that set the standard for years to come,” said Fred Diaz, senior vice president, Nissan Sales & Marketing and Operations, U.S. “Now, nearly 13 years later, the redesigned Murano is leading the way once again with an incredible balance of style, comfort, innovation and more. With the Murano set to hit dealerships in early December, this award serves as a great vote of confidence that this vehicle is among the best.”
The 2015 Murano earns plaudits from the editors at Popular Science for its Predictive Forward Collision Warning, which is able to see potential hazards from nearly 500 feet away thanks to an advanced radar system. Additionally, the accompanying Forward Emergency Braking is able to use the information gained from PFCW to stop the car if a driver is unable to do so in time.
Other technologies available in the 2015 Murano include the standard 3.5-liter DOHC V6, its companion Xtronic transmission, Moving Object Detection, Blind Spot Warning, and Rear Cross Traffic Alert.
