Wild Blueberry Land

Though its name is reminiscent of a zone you’d find in Willy Wonka’s fictional chocolate factory, Wild Blueberry Land is a delightful and tangible realm you can experience in real life. Whether you prefer your berries in the form of jam or baked goods, you’re bound to curb your sweet tooth at this offbeat shop in Columbia Falls. Please note that the shop is open from June to mid-October, so plan your visit accordingly.

Nervous Nellie’s Jams and Jellies

Have you ever wondered what it’s like to accidentally wander into a whole Wild West scene made out of scrap metal? Something halfway between sweet whimsy and apocalyptic hellscape nestled sweetly in the Maine woods? Then I have a story for you! https://t.co/ZV9MUlesrG

Drive to Deer Isle to sample the jam and chutney this shop makes from scratch while soaking in the eclectic atmosphere of the shop and surrounding grounds. You can also wander the found object sculpture village that one of the owners creates.

Browse more than 2,000 umbrella covers at this quirky museum on Peaks Island. Curator Nancy Hoffman opened up her personal collection to public viewing for the purpose of inspiring others to “find wonder and beauty in the simplest of things.”

Hussey’s General Store

Browse the miscellaneous products offered at Hussey’s General Store when you stop by Windsor. Like its sign implies, you can find beer, bridal gowns, guns, and more at this diverse establishment. It’s not surprising that the store continues to thrive almost 100 years after it opened its doors, back in 1923.
