2017 Ford Escape Central to This Week’s Escape NYC Experience at Moynihan Station
Escape rooms have become the it phenomenon in interactive entertainment for borderline sadomasochists. Ford, or presumably the folks from Ford’s marketing department, was made aware of this fact and immediately thought hey, Ford has a utility called the Escape. We might just have something here.
The resulting collaboration between Ford, the I LOVE NEW YORK campaign, puzzle-maker Victor Blake, and Escape the Room NYC will see players attempting to escape from Moynihan Station. It will also involve a 2017 Ford Escape, because of course it will.
“Ford asked if I’d be up for integrating the new Escape into an Escape the Room game, and the end result is unlike anything I’ve created before,” says Blake. “The SUV is packed with tons of advanced technology, and it was an entertaining exercise to integrate things like ultrasonic parking sensors into the puzzles and clues that are iconic to the game.”
Aspects of the 2017 Ford Escape being incorporated into the game include: SYNC AppLink (specifically streaming music from iHeartRadio), SYNC 3’s voice-to-text feature, SYNC Connect’s remote start and lock featuresv, the Sony audio system with Clear Phase and Live Acoustics, enhanced active park assist, rearview camera, ambient lighting, foot-activated liftgate, and adaptive cruise control with collision warning. BUT WHAT ABOUT THE NEW CUPHOLDERS?

Escape NYC: An Escape the Room Driving Experience will run this week from June 23rd-26th and is open to the public. Ford touts that more than 1,000 interested parties signed up in less than a day, but walk-ins will be welcomed.
Ford’s description of what participants can expect:
At the landmark Moynihan Station, players will find themselves immersed in the hidden treasures of summertime in New York as they navigate the quintessential path of going from humble beginnings to making it big in the film industry. An expansive, five-room play space prompts participants to find clues that will guide their journey using various technological tools available in the new Ford Escape, and their own wits.
Well, okay! Somebody get Snake Plissken on the horn.
