Old ‘Top Gear’ Trio Launch New Social Network for Car Lovers
It doesn’t appear that the floundering of the newly revamped Top Gear—and the fact that its host Chris Evans quit—has had any effect whatsoever on the original Top Gear trio of hosts. In fact, some might say Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond, and James May are doing quite fine by themselves. So fine that they’ve decided to launch a brand-new social network for car enthusiasts this fall called DriveTribe.
General Car Care Tips: Learn how to take care of your car
While the details on what DriveTribe will entail are scarce, each of the founders have discussed what they’re expecting from the social network. Richard Hammond stated, “Gamers have got Twitch, Travelers have got Trip Advisor, and Fashion fans have got, oh, something or other too. But people who are into cars have got nowhere. There’s no grand-scale online motoring community where people can meet and share video, comments, information, and opinion. DriveTribe will change that. And then some.”
This is quite similar to what James May said, too. “This is pure digital inclusivity. Some of the world’s most endangered tribes—Volvo enthusiasts, for example—will now have a voice as loud as everyone else’s.”
And of course, while Hammond and May obviously have a deeper understanding at how much DriveTribe will change the world of car enthusiasts, Clarkson’s being… well… Clarkson. He stated, “I didn’t understand DriveTribe until Richard Hammond said it was like YouPorn, only with cars.”
If those answers don’t show each of the trio’s personalities, then I’m not sure what will.

The trio are currently looking for people that can head up each community on DriveTribe. All those interested parties have to do is submit an explanation as to why you’d be a great Tribe Leader and some samples of your work, whether it’s written or a video.
Clarkson, Hammond, and May are set to appear on their new Amazon Prime show called The Grand Tour later this year. It will be interesting to see if this new social media platform will sync with the show at all.
