Yesterday, the US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration formally demanded a nationwide Takata airbag recall, with Japanese officials following suit soon after. Since then, both Honda and Toyota have released statements encouraging an “industry-wide joint initiative to independently test Takata airbag inflators.” Takata, for its part, is still insisting that the airbags are only dangerous in high-humidity areas, and that a nationwide recall would divert attention from the humid locations that truly need it.

Of the whopping 14 million impacted cars worldwide, 7.8 of them are in America. Below is a full list of affected vehicles in the Takata airbag recall, courtesy of the NHTSA. Vehicle owners who are unsure if their vehicle is impacted can visit the manufacturer’s website and search with their VIN to find out, or call the NHTSA Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236.

He loves to take road trips, sometimes to places as distant as Northeastern or even Northwestern Ohio. Patrick also enjoys old movies, shopping at thrift stores, going to ballgames, writing about those things, and watching Law & Order reruns. He just watches the original series, though, none of the spin-offs. And also only the ones they made before Jerry Orbach died. Season five was really the peak, in his opinion.
