Winning Wieners: Check Out This Delicious, Spicy Hot Dog Recipe from Hyundai
Winter is here, and that means two things: football and tailgating. Now is the time to try out delicious new recipes that put creative spins on the basic burgers and brats.
Hyundai, the official automotive sponsor of the NFL, has partnered with Tasty, BuzzFeed’s cooking channel, to offer new recipes for game day. One of our favorites is the “Danger Dogs” spicy hot dogs–perfect for a cold outdoor tailgating party.
This recipe for spicy hot dogs requires some preparation, but is totally worth it.
- Bowl 1: To start, chop three (3) red, ripe tomatoes into half-inch cubes. Store them in an air-tight bowl with assorted pickled peppers, like banana peppers and jalapenos. These should all be sliced and stirred together.
- Bowl 2: Slice–not dice or chop–one (1) large white onion into petals. Then, cut four (4) fresh jalapenos (yes, there are a lot of peppers in this recipe) in half, hollowing them out of their seeds. Put these in another air-tight container for storage.
- Bowl 3: Mix one (1) cup of mayonnaise with two (2) tablespoons of sriracha sauce and 2 cloves of diced garlic. Stir with a spoon, and seal it.
- Bowl 4: Gather twelve (12) all-beef hot dogs, wrapping each one in a strip of uncooked, thick-cut bacon. Set these in a Tupperware case too.
Now for the fun part: cooking them.
Heat your grill up to high and cover a sheet pan with heavy duty foil. Set it on the grill and put the hot dogs on it. Turn every now and then until the bacon is evenly crispy on all sides, which should take 10-12 minutes, depending on the heat of the grill. Turn the heat down a bit during cooking if necessary.
Setting the hot dogs aside, the grill should be on medium-high heat when you saute onion/jalapeno mixture.
Finally, fit the hot dogs in buns and dress them with a little of everything–including fresh avocado. Eat them while they’re hot–and believe us, they will be hot.
